Making the Case for Solar Energy in New York
Coykendall Science Building Auditorium, SUNY NP
Thursday, March 26th 2009
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Presented by Dr. Richard Perez. Solar energy is often dismissed out of hand as an expensive niche market for the few. However, looking at the facts suggests that solar energy may be the only resource that is large enough in scope and acceptable enough to carry us and the rest of the planet through the long term. Compelling evidence from experimental case studies will be presented. This lecture is presented as part of the SUNY New Paltz School of Science and Engineering Colloquium Series and is free and open to the public. For further information call (845) 257-3728 or visit www.newpaltz.edu/sse.

MoveOn Political Action Training, Jan 11, New Paltz
From Barbara and the members of New Paltz Women in Black:
We just signed up to host a Congressional Action Training run by MoveOn.org Political Action.
As President-elect Obama said on Election Night, his victory “is only the chance for us to make the change we seek”. Now, he’ll need a lot of help to push a bold, progressive agenda through Congress.
And that’s where we come in. In Washington, powerful interests — lobbyists for oil companies, drug manufacturers, and HMOs — are lining up to block Obama’s agenda. We’ve got to counter them and show Congress the overwhelming public mandate for change.
So we’re getting together on January 11th to kick off this big year with Congressional Action Trainings. We’ll learn and practice the most effective strategies for influencing Congress — and plan to pay a visit to our local congressional office in a few weeks.
You can sign up for the Congressional Action Training we’re hosting at:
