Provide health care for everyone
Keep an eye on the new county government in Ulster County
support local farms
encourage county, local government to buy local
Make sure the county intermodal facility in Kingston is not built on a flood plain (25-50 year) at Sawkill and Washington Ave in Kingston and situated in uptown Kingston
Link people who need work & skills – get other people to ride bikes – make it safer
Jobs for teenagers
Consumer protection and education consumers union may be helpful to this endeavor. too many people are being ripped off!
Police Mike Hein, local politics
Ban big box stores
Provide more public transportation to job centers
media coverage to broadcast the spirit of the movement
campaign finance reform
electoral college reform
join the league of women voters
Jefferson – every 22 years every law should be changes
get media coverage
What could we do with all the bailout money? (thanks to Brian Lehrer of WNYC for asking this question)
weatherize every building in the country
harness enough wind energy for entire electric consumption
harness enough solar energy for entire electric consumption
give everyone an electric car to use the excess electricity
these things pay for themselves and then some
single payer health care – also comes in cheaper
basic diet, clean water, healthcare for poor people of the earth – platinum lined jail cells for those who have stood in the way…
Take over the government immediately (Jan 1 2009) – To wait is too dangerous
Organize communication among local people to influence representation in government

Spending on war – we want accountability. 100 billion spent on war – big mistake
Open city and county accounting books to the public – names of bidders, amounts – all of it
invest in new business – new technology, green, solar power

invest in housing, performing arts –> tourism

Grant writing help for non-profits
education tax credits (Ulster County Business)
Business doing green initiatives – give them resources & tax breaks
Create more forums like this today. not just “me & monster.com” quarterly, weekly
green jobs & training opportunities
Support local & organic farms – increase CSAs
Public education on food security issues
Living wage for all
Youth employment
develop individual entrepreneurships – create jobs
establish apprenticeships for young people
prevent evictions by standing with the homeowner
